Oklahoma Flight School Ventures Off the Beaten Path

The Guimbal Cabri G2 Makes Inroads

On the hunt for a solid, affordable helicopter, TruFlight Academy selected the Guimbal Cabri G2 as their next flight training platform.

Their selection of the Cabri provides a new family-run training option to an area with few other rotary-wing providers in Oklahoma, hopefully at a price point more accessible to students in the area. As most flight training operators know, it's far easier to sell a wet rate when the aircraft is shiny and modern, and TruFlight's chief pilot said the Cabri G2 gave them everything they needed in one aircraft.

“The safety, modern technology, and designed for training features all make the G2 an obvious choice. The real deciding factor for us was the support. We knew from our conversations with Precision and Guimbal that when we had an issue, they would have a solution. For a small school, it is imperative we have people in our corner who understand not only how to keep the aircraft up and running, but are also willing to share in our passion and support our business. That’s what you get when you choose Cabri USA.”

He and his Scarlett started the endeavor after he finished a stint flying helicopters with the US Army. Throughout 8 years in active duty, he flew the Black Hawk, later transitioning into the Lakota in National Guard service where he flies today. That taste for high-end aircraft undoubtedly swayed him towards the capable G2 - if nothing else to have a trainer helo with air conditioning. The Guison's operation at Gundy's airport outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma has enabled them to create an unusual little community, setting up on-site student housing for traveling student pilots. A series of local partnerships with community colleges, fixed-wing flying schools, and clubs have also brought fresh blood in through the doors. TruFlight is currently working on approval for their own FAA Part 141 program, too.

TruFlight's new aircraft will be on display at the Heli-Expo 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia from March 7-9th.
