Elvis' Airplanes May Soon Be Gone From Graceland

Elvis Presley Enterprises Has Asked That The Be Removed

Over the course of his career, Elvis Presley acquired a lot of things, and among them are two airplanes that became known as Elvis Presley Airways.

The two aircraft, a Convair 880 and a Lockheed JetStar, dubbed the "Lisa Marie" and "Hound Dog" respectively, have been on display at Graceland for 30 years and toured by millions of fans. But recently, the operator of the Graceland theme park ... Elvis Presley Enterprises ... has asked OKC partnership, which bought the planes in the mid-80s ... to remove them from the premises by next April. The management company gave no reason for the request.

OKC Partnership had agreed to keep the planes at Graceland in exchange for a portion of the revenue generated by ticket sales.

Part of it may stem from the sale of Elvis Presley Enterprises to New York-based Authentic Brands Group.

The Associated Press reports that OKC Partnership says that the planes, which are decked out in classic Elvis opulence, are a major draw at the park. K.G. Coker of OKC Partnership still hopes a deal can be worked out with the new owners to have the planes remain on display at Graceland.

If they are required to move, it is not known where they'll go.

They could wind up on display under the Blue Moon of Kentucky, in Blue Hawaii, or perhaps on Blueberry Hill.
