Upcoming NBAA 2006 Convention To Provide Amazing BizAv Showcase

There is plenty to see and do at the 2006 NBAA Convention and for those of you who were blown away by last year's iteration, we have a feeling that the great expectations many have for this year's event are about to be exceeded. Among the "Can't Miss" events include...

Opening General Session Speakers Include Arnold Palmer, Gerald Shaheen

Thousands of people are expected at next week's NBAA Convention in Orlando. NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen will welcome Attendees the morning of October 17 in his role as host of the Opening General Session, which will feature golf legend and business aviation supporter Arnold Palmer and Gerald L. Shaheen, chairman of the board of directors, U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Carville and Matalin Will Provide Mid-Term Election Forecast, Oct. 18th

With less than a month left until the mid-term congressional elections, a number of controversial issues dominate Capitol Hill and campaigns across the country. The contentious political environment has many pollsters and pundits wondering which political party will hold a majority in Congress after election day.

Against this backdrop, famed political couple James Carville and Mary Matalin will provide their insights about the campaign climate and what it means for the November elections at the NBAA Convention on Wednesday, October 18, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m.

Their remarks will set the stage for a panel discussion by NBAA's Ed Bolen and leaders from four other general aviation organizations focusing on a controversial aviation proposal: The commercial airlines' attempt to shift $2 billion in costs to general aviation and seize control of the aviation system from Congress.

Cessna to Receive New NBAA Albert Ueltschi Humanitarian Award

During NBAA2006, the Association will present Cessna Aircraft Company with the inaugural NBAA Albert Ueltschi Humanitarian Award in recognition of the leadership and spirit of service demonstrated by the Cessna Citation Special Olympics Airlift.

"The generosity of the hundreds of Cessna Citation owners and operators required to accomplish this massive humanitarian effort epitomizes the sense of community and service that NBAA intends to recognize with the Ueltschi Humanitarian Award," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.

"We created this award to bring recognition to the often unsung efforts of the business aviation community to pitch in whenever there is an opportunity."

Very Light Jets Taking Center Stage

Announcements of new very light jet (VLJ) projects and updates on FAA certification of aircraft have headlined the aviation and mainstream media over the past several months. NBAA has lined up senior executives from VLJ manufacturers and an air taxi start-up for a VLJ panel discussion to be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17 during NBAA2006.

Executives are confirmed from Adam Aircraft, Aviation Technology Group, Cessna Aircraft Company, Eclipse Aviation, Embraer, and Magnum Jet for this exclusive insight into the VLJ marketplace. FAA and DOT staff will present on regulatory initiatives related to VLJs and air taxis. In addition to VLJ announcements, many other aircraft and product announcements are expected to be made at this year's NBAA Convention, the only place in the world where buyers can make side-by-side comparisons of all business aviation aircraft in, or soon to be in, production.
