New BushCub Sportsman Assemblies Introduced At Sebring

Airframe Being Displayed "Naked" To Show Construction Techniques

Bushwhacker Aircraft Company unveiled its new BushCub Sportsman Fuselage and Wing Assemblies Thursday at the Sebring Light Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida. The American-made BushCub Sportsman will be sold as a tack-welded fuse, fully welded fuse, experimental kit with wings. and a Ready-to- Fly, Light Sport Aircraft.

The 4130 chromoly tubing fuselage, which is based on the venerable PA-18 SuperCub design, is CNC cut and expertly TIG welded. Chris Hatin, President of the company stated, “There is not a more expertly crafted Cub-Style fuselage on the market today. Our welders have 30 + years of experience TIG welding $5000 bicycle frames, and their workmanship is unsurpassed in this industry. We brought the BushCub here in its raw state to show the quality we offer - something that easy to miss after it’s fully built.”

Initial response to the fuselage has been fantastic. “Everyone that walks up to it comments on the welds and overall fit and finish – and some of these folks really know about welding”, Hatin added. Other BushCub features include an all-aluminum Clipped Wing (33 feet), power by the 115hp, FAA Certified Lycoming 0-235 fitted with light-weight starter, alternator, and electronic ignition/magneto combo, 24 gallon fuel capacity, and composite doors, panel, cowling and trim pieces to save weight. Options will include a BRS parachute system, lights, GPS and glass panels, floats, skis and tundra tires.

The pre-production base price for the BushCub Sportsman LSA will be $89,900, with initial $1,000 refundable deposits being accepted and held in Escrow at Escrow.com. Prototype completion and testing will be in June, with LSA certification expected late July, 2010. Deliveries will begin shortly after. Once production begins, the Sportsman will sell for a base price $99,900.

Kits, with deliveries beginning in March, 2010, will be base priced at $32,900, and will require firewall forward, covering, tires, instruments, and upholstery for completion. Kits may be ordered for a $1500 discount until March 1st, 2010.

Bushwhacker Aircraft will also continue to manufacture its complete line of experimental PA-18 fittings and components, which it began selling in 2005.
