Innotech Aviation Completes Installation Of New Challenger APU

Better Reliability, Lower EGTs

Representatives with Montreal-based Innotech Aviation told ANN this week the company has completed its first installation of a Honeywell GTCP36-150(CL) auxiliary power unit (APU) in a Bombardier Challenger 604 business jet.

The new APU replaces the original GTCP36-100 series and provides significant performance, operational and maintenance benefits over the original.

Other significant benefits include enhanced reliability, and cooler exhaust gas temperature (EGT) values.

The uprated APUS feature an enhanced reliability load control valve, an electronic control unit (ECU) with complete built-in test equipment (BITE) capability which analyzes most line replaceable units (LRU), and reduces maintenance costs as well as downtime; and improved fuel scheduling and fuel control improve starting and operational schedules for all start regime conditions - sea level, deep cold and high and hot conditions.

The unit is available to all Challenger 601 and 604 operators as an optional retrofit Service Bulletin. Innotech believes the retrofit will be popular among Challenger operators.

"The operational and economic benefits are clearly there, and we can perform the installation during a regular maintenance visit or on demand," said Rob Brooks, Innotech vice-president and general manager. "As a Bombardier authorized service facility since 1983, we know this airplane from radome to tailcone."

Offering 50 years of aircraft retrofit expertise, Innotech Aviation was recently recognized as one of the 50 best managed companies in Canada. The company provides maintenance, repair and overhaul, modifications, interior refurbishment, avionics installations & modifications, mechanical and avionics design and engineering to the world's business aviation community.
