DA40 Diamond Star Gets Hartzell Thrust

Hartzell Propeller has received FAA and Transport Canada STCs for installation of its new blended airfoil 2-blade metal constant speed propeller on Diamond's four seat DA40 Diamond Star.

Diamond's philosophy is to offer maximum choice and flexibility to its customers, and consequently both the existing 3 blade MT composite propeller and the new 2 blade Hartzell metal propeller will be available on newly ordered DA40 Diamond Stars.

More performance, though heavier:

The new Hartzell prop features advanced blade profile and shape, increased diameter, and a polished aluminum spinner. Overall performance is increased and the maximum operating rpm, originally limited due to more stringent European noise requirements, has been increased from 2400 to 2700 rpm, with no restricted  RPM ranges or significant effect on noise. The Hartzell metal prop weighs 13 lbs more than the 3 blade composite MT prop.

Diamond's John Gauch, V.P. Sales and Marketing, stated: "we were particularily pleased with Hartzell's commitment to optimizing the performance while avoiding any restricted RPM ranges, that would have been unacceptable to us. We like the performance, the ramp appeal and that we can now offer our North American customers a choice of propellers."

Warranty on the Hartzell prop installed on the DA40, is a full 2 years, up to 2,000 hrs.
