Edwin Huisman New Managing Director Of Avion Training

Will Oversee Operations At Three Airports

The Dutch Avion Group has appointed 52-year-old Edwin Huisman as the new Managing Director and Accountable Manager of Avion Training. Huisman will be responsible for all training facilities at Maastricht-Aachen Airport in The Netherlands and at Dalaman Airport in Turkey, and for the soon to be opened new training facilities in Malta.

Edwin Huisman, former CFO of parent company Avion Group BV, is known as a trendsetter in the aviation training branch who intends to develop a new modular combination of basic classical and individual computer-based MPL- and ATPL-study strategies, in close cooperation with the international Airlines, transforming the role of the trainer from a lecturer into a coach with strong roots in the Airline world. This airline and crew-focused training already lead to delivering a large number of MPL-students and ATPL- students by Avion Training to many international Airlines in the past few years, using aircraft, trainers and other Airline sources as basic training assets.

"Apart from these new computer-based study strategies, other advantages of the trainings we offer are based on our international oriented view on pilot training," Huisman said. "With training facilities all over Europe, Avion Training has the opportunity to train pilots in all possible weather conditions and Air Traffic Control-structures. And we are able to let these young pilots get acquainted with different Airline cultures in close cooperation with different Airlines. This international Airline focus, in combination with our competence based trainings from ab initio to Line Orientated Flight Training, has led to giant savings for the Airlines."

Avion Training BV in The Netherlands currently is the only EASA Flight Academy accredited by Boeing as part of the new Global Network of Boeing Training Providers. This Boeing Pilot Development Program is a fully integrated solution that takes cadet pilots through initial screening, English training, ab initio (basic classroom and flight instruction), jet bridge and type rating training at Boeing Training Providers and Boeing training campuses around the world to ensure an efficient, consistent and effective pipeline for airlines to secure qualified first officers. In order to be considered for the Boeing training network like Avion Training, schools must prove a good safety culture and have a good reputation with the industry.
