Goodrich Goes Global With National Aerospace Week

Facilities Worldwide Organize Community Outreach To Promote Aerospace Industry

Goodrich Corporation says it plans to recognize National Aerospace Week this week with events at multiple facilities around the world.

Organized by the U.S. Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the purpose of National Aerospace Week is to highlight the contributions of the aerospace and defense industry made to the economy and to also engage students to consider pursuing a career in the industry.

Goodrich is using National Aerospace Week to highlight the contributions of the international aerospace and defense industry. It is encouraging its facilities around the world to use the week for outreach to local communities and to provide students opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) educational learning. Some of the community outreach events include:

  • Charlotte, NC - Goodrich headquarters facility sponsoring a field trip for local fifth graders to the Carolinas Aviation Museum. It is also funding ScienceReach mobile labs taking place at the Discovery Place science education center and several classrooms in the area.
  • Birmingham, UK - Goodrich's Actuation Systems business is a corporate sponsor for the 2010 British Science Festival hosted by the British Science Association and being held Tuesday, September 14 through Sunday, September 19.
  • Troy, OH - Goodrich's Aircraft Wheels and Brakes business is making a donation of aviation books to elementary school students through the Troy Rec Summer Lunch Buddies Program.
  • Chula Vista, CA - Goodrich's Aerostructures business is sending participants from their Associate Engineer Rotational Program to visit a local at risk high school. The engineers will host a presentation on Goodrich products and engage students in conversation about aerospace and defense careers.
