Eagle Cap Software Announces Release Of The Squawk App Version 2.0

High quality and timely data from pilots regarding current aircraft time and condition are necessary in order to maintain safe aircraft operations. Despite mobile replacing paper in the cockpit for everything from checklists to charts, it is still common for aircraft issues and hours to be recorded on a napkin or scrap of paper. Once that information is record, the pilot then needs to remember to transfer the information to a paper form or call/e-mail it in at the end of a long day of flying.

The Squawk App, developed by Eagle Cap Software, is designed for aircraft operators and pilots who would like a better way to record, submit, collect, manage, and retain aircraft hours and issues (often referred to as squawks). The Squawk App provides a simple, convenient, and consistent way for pilots to submit reports using the mobile devices they already carry onboard. The ability for pilots to document issues as they happen increases timeliness, accuracy, and relevancy of the data, ensuring the maintenance team receives the best information possible to facilitate operations and repair.

Tom Perkowski, Co-Founder of Eagle Cap Software, explained, “As a pilot I have written up many squawks and recorded my aircraft time on slips of paper. I knew there had to be a better, more efficient way to report this information, which is what prompted the idea for The Squawk App.”

The app works by the aircraft operator/owner creating an account with a unique customer ID online. After logging in to the account and downloading the free app, they can add and configure Aircraft, set up what optional and required fields are displayed in the app, establish distribution lists for reports on a per-aircraft basis, and view/manage/print reports. The user can then easily submit a report as long as there is an internet connection, the report will be sent immediately; otherwise, it will be saved until the device connects. The list of squawks is also displayed on the Home screen along with their status.

The Squawk App is now available as a free download on iOS devices from the App Store. An Android version will be available in the Google Play Store in early September. The Squawk App is sold on a per aircraft subscription basis, however it is free to use in support of a single aircraft. The Squawk App will be offered at a special AirVenture price of $75 per aircraft for the first year through 8/1/2016.
