By Bruce Brandon

Chinese aviation officials opened the Chinese EAA Pavilion at OSH Monday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Approximately one hundred members of the Chinese delegation consisting of consisting of Chinese aviation business leaders and government officials were welcomed to Airventure Mr. Barry Valentine, EAA Director Emeritus.

Mr. Jin, coordinator for the event, introduced Chinese dignitaries who expressed their desire to learn, communicate and work with, EAA to grow the Chinese general aviation infrastructure. There will be presentations to American aviation companies later in the week by Chinese officials articulating the plans and needs for future growth in China.  China has embarked on an ambitious plan to increase its aviation infrastructure and business. Earlier this week, Jilin Hanxing Group co., Ltd. announced that it had purchased Glasair Aviation, LLC. This comes on the heels of Chinese purchases of Cirrus Aircraft, Epic Aircraft, Continental Engines, Superior Air Parts, Brantley Helicopter, and likely the purchase of Hawker Beechcraft.

China is also increasing its aeronautical production capabilities via entering into manufacturing agreements with Boeing, Airbus and Embraer. Additionally Cessana now makes the Sky Catcher in China and has agreements to manufacture, assemble or make parts for other Cessna Boeing, Air Bus and Embraer Aircraft.
