NBAA Provides Aviation Community With Real-Time Hurricane Rita Information

Members Urged to Register Assets for Potential Relief Efforts

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Friday announced several resources to provide its Members and the general aviation community with real-time information related to Hurricane Rita. NBAA is tracking the storm and will be providing updates on its impact on the Gulf Coast for the duration of the landfall and initial recovery effort. Those resources are as follows:

Online Hurricane Rita Impact Summary -- The NBAA Hurricane Rita Impact Summary is providing continuously updated information about weather, airport conditions and FAA facilities, links to information about road conditions and more. The summary contains information gathered from NBAA communications with the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal entities. To access the summary, visit http://web.nbaa.org/public/rita/.

24-Hour Information Hotline -- A hotline has been set up for those wanting to provide information or submit inquiries directly to NBAA staff. The line will be open after hours and throughout the weekend of September 24-25. The phone number is (202) 478-7764.

Hurricane Rita Air Mail Listserv -- NBAA has established a dedicated Hurricane Rita Relief Air Mail list to help Members better share information and coordinate potential relief efforts. This list was developed to focus exclusively on information and initiatives relating to the storm, so that the flow of assistance information can be streamlined. The listserv will be operated in coordination with the NBAA Hurricane Rita Impact Summary.

Asset Registration Database -- In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, NBAA developed a database that allows Member Companies to register assets that are available for relief efforts with the Association. To date, more than 200 aircraft have been registered to the site. Over the coming days, NBAA will continue to maintain the database, and utilize it to coordinate efforts to meet available assets with hurricane relief needs. NBAA urges operators to continue registering their assets with NBAA so that the Association can provide that information to the relief agencies when needed. To register an asset, please visit http://web.nbaa.org/public/hurricane/assets.php.

Links to Federal and Relief Agencies -- The NBAA Hurricane Rita Information Resource provides links to the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency and American Red Cross to help NBAA Members provide financial contributions, volunteers and company assets to assist those in need.

For more real-time information on the storm's impact or to learn how to assist to those in need, visit the NBAA Hurricane Rita Information Resource, located at http://web.nbaa.org/public/rita/.
