Two Unhurt In Eclipse 500 Landing Accident

Few Details Available At This Time

ANN REALTIME UPDATE 07.31.08 1300 EDT: ANN has confirmed the Eclipse 500 VLJ involved in the Wednesday evening crash near Brandywine Airport (OQN) near West Goshen, PA was attempting to land when it overshot the runway, and skidded into a treeline off the departure end of runway 27.

Earlier reports, based on witness statements, had indicated the aircraft was taking off when the accident took place.

The two persons onboard, the pilot and his young daughter, were not injured. The accident occurred at 6:30 pm local time Wednesday.

The aircraft's right wing was badly damaged on impact with trees off the runway end, and hazmat teams were called out to deal with a ruptured fuel tank.

The pilot, whose identity was not released, would not comment on what led to the accident. Goshen Fire Chef Grant Everhart said one of the aircraft's engines continued to run following the crash and could not be shut down, forcing firefighters to drown the engine in foam to get it to stop.

The accident aircraft is N333MY, s/n 103 and registered to My Aviation LLC in Lafayette Hill, PA. A file photo of the type is shown above.
