Documentary Makers Turn To Kickstarter To Fund Mosquito Film

Filmmakers Have Followed The Restoration Of A de Havilland Mosquito

The makers of the documentary Gaining Altitude ... which chronicles the restoration of a de Havilland Mosquito to flying condition ... have launched a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to finish the film and bring it to theaters.

The airplane is an original Mosquito, called the "Mossie" during the war. According to the Kickstarter page, the film "tells the story of this Mossie through archival footage and interviews with veteran pilots. We follow the incredible process of restoring a plane that hasn't flown in more than 40 years. And, we’ll take to the skies with the world’s only known flying original Mosquito."

The filmmakers are seeking $15,000 (Canadian) to fund post-production and distribution. To date, they have had pledges of nearly $3,000 (CAD) towards their goal.

Those who pledge as little as a dollar will have their name in the credits of the movie. Other "thank you" gifts at higher levels include an HD digital download of the movie, DVDs, and T-Shirts, up to a full-screen "Brought to you by" credit on the film.
