Alteon Appoints New Chief Pilot, VP Of Flight Ops

Allen Thompson Joined Training Company In 2001

Boeing subsidiary Alteon Training announced Monday the appointment of Allen Thompson as the company’s new chief pilot and vice president of flight operations. Thompson’s responsibilities include overseeing flight operations and Alteon instructor pilots. He will report directly to chief operating officer, Dr. Len Weber.

Thompson joined Alteon in 2001 and was most recently director of Flight Training managing all aspects of flight training and instructor resources in Seattle, WA. Thompson started at Alteon as fleet manager for the 747-400 in Korea and has since held various leadership positions in operations or flight training at Alteon training facilities around the world.

"Al has 46 years of experience in the aviation industry, a strong airline and military background and good relationships with key regulatory authorities around the world," said Sherry Carbary, president of Alteon Training. "He is well-positioned to lead the Flight Operations team to support Alteon’s customers worldwide with their training requirements."

"Al used to fly commercial aircraft for the world’s top airlines, he understands the challenges pilots face and can test new courseware to determine the effectiveness for our customers," said Weber. "He is an excellent mentor for our instructors and I am confident Al will ensure that Alteon continues to hire and retain the best instructors in the business."

Prior to joining Alteon, Thompson worked at Singapore Airlines as the Boeing 747-400 Commander for five years, based in Singapore. He started his career in 1962 with the Royal Canadian Air Force and then joined Canadian Pacific Airlines/Canadian Airlines where he held various training, standards and management positions.
