Chautauqua Airlines Becomes First US Based Airline to be Registered with IOSA

Republic Airways said Tuesday that its primary subsidiary, Chautauqua Airlines, is the first airline in the United States and second regional airline in the world to be registered with IOSA.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) developed the Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program for flight operations standards and recommended practices. An audit under IOSA is based on internationally recognized operational standards and assesses the operational management and control systems of an airline. An airline that has been audited to full conformity with IOSA standards makes a clear positive statement about the integrity of its operations and its ability to manage associated risks.

On July 5, 2004, The Federal Aviation Administration approved the IATA Operational Safety Audit Program. The FAA's recognition of IOSA permits US carriers to use the program's accredited audit organizations to comply with the US audit requirement rather than perform the audit themselves. In March, 2004, United Airlines PROS (Partners in Resources for Operational Safety) conducted an operational review of Chautauqua Airlines using IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) standards.

"This IOSA registration confirms our continued commitment to the highest levels of passenger safety. We are honored to be the first US based airline to receive this designation," said Bryan Bedford, Chairman, President and CEO of Republic Airways.

Republic Airways Holdings, based in Indianapolis (IN) is an airline holding company. Its principal operating subsidiary, Chautauqua Airlines was recently named this year's Regional Airline of the Year by Air Transport World and Regional Airline World. The airline is celebrating its Thirtieth anniversary of scheduled commercial passenger service. Chautauqua Airlines offers scheduled passenger service on more than 570 flights daily to 68 cities in 31 states, District of Columbia, Canada and the Bahamas through code sharing agreements with four major US airlines. The all-jet airline currently operates a fleet of 88 Embraer regional jets, including 58 ERJ-145s, 15 ERJ-140s and 15 ERJ-135's. All of its flights are operated under its major airline partner brand, such as AmericanConnection, Delta Connection, United Express and US Airways Express. The airline employs more than 2,100 aviation professionals.
