Aircell To Add Voice Service To Gogo Biz

Joins Existing High Speed Internet Service For Business Aircraft

Aircell will add next-generation voice capabilities to its popular Gogo Biz service in late 2011, the company said Wednesday at the annual AEA convention.

The high bandwidth and very low latency (delay) characteristics of Gogo Biz will combine to enable a level of voice quality and clarity that will be unrivaled by any previous or existing aviation solution. They will also allow Gogo Biz to support several simultaneous voice calls and Internet sessions, while preserving the high performance of each application.

“Aircell’s robust air-to-ground technology is extremely capable. We’ve considered adding voice to Gogo Biz from the very beginning, and today, we’re announcing that it will soon be a reality,” said John Wade, Aircell’s Executive Vice President & General Manager, Business Aviation Services. “No other network service can match Gogo Biz’s combination of Internet performance, voice quality, small equipment size and affordability. Gogo Biz is  aready the fastest-selling service in our history, and we expect interest to increase even further as voice is introduced.”

From an aircraft equipment perspective, Gogo Biz provides inflight Internet – and soon, optional voice service – through Aircell’s ATG 4000/5000 systems. Upgrade paths will be offered to current ATG 4000/5000 owners wishing to add Gogo Biz Voice to their existing infield installations. Aircell will introduce an expanded suite of Gogo Biz monthly service plans, allowing customers to choose both voice and data packages that meet their  individual needs and usage patterns.

Gogo Biz Voice will be compatible with the new Aircell Smartphone, a next-generation cabin handset.

Gogo Biz continues to receive market interest, with nearly 1,000 units ordered by the end of 2010. It has already been selected by many of the most respected names in business aviation including Clay Lacy Aviation, Flight Options, Cessna Aircraft Company, XOJET, Flexjet, NetJets, Gulfstream Aerospace, Bombardier Aerospace and more.
