Gary, IN, Issues RFP For Airport Investments

City, Airport Authority Looking For Public-Private Partnerships For Development On And Near Airport

The City of Gary, IN, and the Board of Directors of the Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority have approved and released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Development and Management of the Gary/Chicago International Airport (KGYY) and Related Assets to invest in the airport and the surrounding area through a potential public-private partnership (P3).

Proposals will be due by 1700 CDT August 26, 2013.

Tasked by the Airport Authority in February to explore a P3 to accelerate job creation and long-term investment in Gary and the Northwest Indiana region, the Airport Authority and the City of Gary foresee a P3 model that retains public ownership of the airport and benefits from private sector innovation and access to capital. In addition to the P3 exploration, major construction at the airport of a $166 million runway extending the main 7,000-foot runway by 1,900 feet continues.

A team of financial experts, project managers and legal advisers are assisting the Airport Authority in the P3 exploration.  The team includes A.C. Advisory Inc., JClark Consulting Group, LLC and Faegre Baker Daniels LLP.

Questions regarding the RFP may be submitted from July 23 through August 2, 2013, 1700 CDT.  The Airport and the City will publish responses to the questions on or near August 12, 2013.

The Airport Board and the City of Gary require that all communications, including requests for additional information and/or clarification, be made to the Project E-mail.
