AEA 2007: EMS SATCOM Unveils CNX-300 Mobile Access Router

In-Cabin Device Addresses Military, Gov't Requirements

EMS SATCOM told ANN at the Aircraft Electronics Association Convention and Trade Show Thursday of the addition of a new CNX-300 Mobile Access Router to its CNX Cabin Gateway Series of airborne networking devices. The new product is designed specifically to address military and government requirements.

The CNX-300 Mobile Access Router (MAR) combines all the functionality of the Cabin Gateway product line including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Hub and Terminal Adapter with the Cisco 3200 Series router. This router addresses communications challenges faced by airborne users when access to information is critical regardless of aircraft movement or location. The CNX-300 product is built to operate on the Inmarsat Swift64 and future SwiftBroadband networks, and is expected to provide the following advantages:

  • Secure data, voice, and video communications where dynamic routing, VPN tunnels and AES encryption are required;
  • Seamless mobility and network interoperability; and
  • Advanced IP services using Cisco IOS Software.

"Adding the 3200 Series Router to our already capable CNX product line allows us to address the complex network-centric mobility needs of our government and military customers," says EMS SATCOM Vice President of Government and Military Sales Stephen Newell. "The advanced security features and standards-based IP technology of the MAR address our customers’ ever-growing demands for mission-critical communications solutions."

EMS Technologies, Inc. is a wireless and satellite communication solutions leader, serving aeronautical, defense, maritime, commercial space and supply chain markets. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, employs approximately 1,000 people worldwide and operates major manufacturing facilities in Atlanta and Ottawa, Canada.
