Company Recently Began Deliveries Of CM202U Gimbal
Ascent Vision, specialists in precision-imaging Gimbal Sensor Technology, says it has been seeing solid demand for its CM202U gimbal, which provides a complete optics system for counter-UAS operations. The CM202U is a derivative of the CM202, which the company originally developed for aerial applications.
“We are pleased with the progress we have made in the increasingly important CUAS market segment,” said Tim Sheehy, Ascent Vision Founder and CEO. “We originally designed the CM202 to be a customizable imaging solution for a variety of aerial missions. With the support of the CTTSO (Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office) rapid procurement program, we were able to swiftly modify and enhance the CM202 to be used exclusively for CUAS ground-based applications.”
The CTTSO’s Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) program was established to facilitate the insertion of innovative small business technologies, such as Ascent Vision’s CM202U, into military systems or programs that meet critical national security needs. RIF is also intended to facilitate implementation of innovative technologies that show a clear transition path to fielding the technology into existing defense acquisition programs.
Ascent Vision’s CM202U is a gyro-stabilized, multi-sensor gimbal that integrates both the necessary hardware and software to accomplish the mission. The robust system is man-portable and includes: object tracking capability, low power consumption, direct drive motors for accurate positioning, and both a Static Target Detection Algorithm and Moving Target Detector Algorithm. The CM202U is certified to MIL STD 810G Environmental standards.
“As the need to rapidly deploy systems which have the capability to combat the use of UAVs for terrorism and other adversarial activities has increased, we are appreciative of the support of the RIF program,” added Sheehy. “We were able to quickly develop several technical innovations that make the CM202U well-suited to support U.S. military and other counter terrorism operations.”
