Grannies Skydive For Veterans

Hope Next Jump Will Be With President George H. W. Bush

Two eighty-something great-grandmothers from Ohio took a giant leap this past weekend to benefit a veteran's food pantry in Northwest Ohio. 83-three-old Marjorie Bryan and 82-year-old Marianna Sherman each safely completed a tandem parachute jump as a fundraising effort for their local chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America and its veterans food pantry. The jumps took place last Saturday at the Allen County Airport in Lima, Ohio reports the Lima News.

Even before completing the celebratory glass of champagne, The Blaze reports online that Bryan announced she has her sights set on bigger thrills. This skydiving great-granny wants to accompany former President George H. W. Bush on another tandem jump for his upcoming 90th birthday. “I’ll be 85, and I want to go with him,” she said with a smile on her face.

Bryan and Sherman already have one tie to the former President. Their jump partner was retired Sgt. 1st Class Michael Elliott, who has done tandem jumps with Mr. Bush, a WWII aviator.

According to Ranger Tony Mouzon, who shot the airborne video of their jumps, neither of the women screamed on the way down.
