Man Arrested After UAV Impacts Empire State Building

Struck The Building At The 40th Floor, Landed On The 35th

A New Jersey man who tweeted that he was using his UAV to take images of the Empire State Building in New York City has been arrested after the aircraft crashed into the side of the iconic structure.

NBC news reports that the man has been identified as 28-year-old Jersey City resident Sean Niven Riddle (pictured). He posted on Twitter Thursday evening that he had been "filming w/drone, now its stuck on the empire state building....w/security."

Basically, he went and asked security officers if he could retrieve his aircraft, which reportedly struck the building on the 40th floor and landed on the 35th.

A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed that Riddle was charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. The police spokesman said that the charges were pretty light given that he was flying a UAV over a heavily populated area ... and then crashed it.

No one was hurt in the incident.
