Loose Dog Causes LaGuardia Delays

Pooch Vacated Its Crate, Held Up Operations For About 10 Minutes

A dog which escaped from its crate while being loaded onto a plane caused about a 10 minutes shutdown of LaGuardia airport Thursday.

Television Station WNBC reports that it was not known just how the 30 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy got out of its crate before being boarded on a Delta flight to Memphis, but when it did, it explored the tarmac area as well as running near the runway before it was corralled.

Airport officials say the incident only delayed operations for about 10 minutes, and only two or three flights were affected while the Port Authority of New York got the pup safely on its way to Memphis. (Delta hub at LaGuardia file photo)
