AeroSports Update: Special Parking For Special Homebuilts

Sometimes Any Parking At Wittman Regional Airport During EAA AirVenture Is An Adventure Of Its Own, But Special Parking Is Being Provided For Special Homebuilts

Any homebuilt aircraft is always special to the person who built it, but EAA likes to recognize some aircraft that are a little out of the ordinary. They do this by providing a special parking area for homebuilt airplanes that meet certain criteria.

Homebuilders Headquarters will again have special parking at AirVenture for prior Grand Champions, auto engine aircraft, homebuilts more than 20 years old, and for those homebuilt aircraft that have more than 1,000 hours of flight time.

Pilots arriving in a qualifying homebuilt should, contact Charlie Becker, EAA director of communities and homebuilt community manager, via e-mail for a special parking sign that can be displayed in the aircraft so EAA volunteers can direct it to the proper parking location.

It’s also important to tell the volunteers at Homebuilders Headquarters that you qualify for this type of parking when you register the aircraft and they will give you a special prop card to display on your aircraft.

This special parking provides a way for all AirVenture attendees to easily find and view these special aircraft in one convenient location.
