Lindbergh Foundation Makes Special Call for Aviation Grant Proposals

Applications Deadline Extended Until October 30

if you think you've had a great idea for the aviation industry, particularly as it relates to the environment, but needed some help getting things off the ground, as it were, read on. The Lindbergh Foundation is extending the deadline for submissions of aviation-related grant applications until October 30, 2009.  Anyone conducting an aviation/aerospace research project that balances technological advancements with the preservation of our environment is encouraged to apply.  Lindbergh grants are given to individuals and they are not required to be associated with a university, business, or a non-profit.  Those receiving grants will be notified in April lst 2010, with funding in July 2010.  These research grants, in the amount of $10,580, may not be used for tuition.

In recent years, the Lindbergh Foundation has funded aviation-environment projects that addressed such issues as: increasing fuel efficiency through direct routing air traffic technology, drag reduction research and the use of continuous descent approaches; reducing noise pollution by using high frequency sound waves from ultrasonic actuators; and encouraging alternative energy solutions by making extended flight economical and pollution free using electric propulsion.

Lindbergh Grants have become increasingly well known, supporting innovative ideas at earlier stages of development and establishing pilot projects that often subsequently receive extensive funding from other sources. Since the first Lindbergh Grants were made in 1978, the Lindbergh Foundation has awarded nearly $3 million to 300 men and women around the world.
