DJI Planning Price Cut For Phantom Drones

Analysts Say It Could Signal The Introduction Of A New Model

It looks like DJI has a new drone in the works, and it will be offering discounts on its existing models to make way for the new aircraft.

The tech website Fast Company reports that the company was planning to announce a 20 percent price cut on its Phantom 3 Professional drone, bringing the model in under $1,000. And it also recently sent out an announcement for an event March 1 that touts a "major announcement" concerning "the next era of intelligence, creativity and simplicity" and witnessing "DJI’s latest technology."

The announcement was accompanied by an image that looks like a Phantom drone, the website said.

DJI would not comment on the rumors. The sent an email saying that the company is "constantly assessing our product range and market conditions to determine the most-appropriate and competitive pricing for consumers. As more consumers advance their aerial photography skills, they are also asking for higher-quality cameras and more professional features on their drones. The price adjustment will enable more people to access our professional-grade aerial technology and open up more creative possibilities."

But that hasn't stopped the Internet from being lit up with rumors that a Phantom 4 may be coming soon to an FAA registry database near you.
