Nearly $18,000 Raised In Five Days For Mitchell Melton
A fundraising campaign has been established on Facebook for Mitchell Melton, one of the survivors of last Wednesday's accident involving a Collings Foundation B-17 in Connecticut.
The effort was posted by Facebook user Tori Boykin, who wrote:
"On October 2nd Mitchell Melton was involved in the terrible B-17 bomber plane crash in Connecticut along with some of his right hand men and several loved passengers. This day was a tragic day for all of us including the families involved with their loved ones. Mitchell is a loving father to Harlie Lynn, our 3 year old girl we share together. Mitchell served in the Army and Air Force and has a huge passion for aviation.? I set up this page for not only updates but for donation for Mitchell for when he gets out and is in the process of recovery. We want to let all of y’all know that we appreciate each and every one of y’all for everything you have done so far.
"If for some reason I’m not able to comment or react to your donations or loving words, shoot me a message and I’ll be sure to reply back as soon as I can. Mitchell is currently in good spirits & doing very well with healing. Again, thank y’all so much for everything."
In its first five days, the effort raised $17,650, and donations are continuing to come in.
As of late Sunday, Boykin reported that Melton was getting out of bed and in good spirits, and should be discharged from the hospital "soon".
