Aero-Linx!
Scouring the information super airways can sometimes be a tough, if educational, task for the Aero-News staff... but it also allows us to check out some truly neat and exciting sites, so it's not that bad a gig. On any given day, we may check dozens (and often hundreds) of different sources for story ideas, and facts confirmation. And, as is the nature of our business, much of this is done on the Internet.
The ANN gang decided we probably shouldn't keep some of the neat sites, info resources, and organizations we've discovered to ourselves... so we decided to bring you Aero-Linx. These are the sites that WE check out -- when we need added perspective, a new spin on a day's topic... or just want to escape into cyber-aero-space for awhile.
Look for some of our favorite sites, coming each day to ANN via Aero-Linx. Suggestions for future Aero-Linx segments are always welcome, as well.
Aero Linx: LightHawk
We fly to save the Earth. We accelerate conservation success through the powerful perspective of flight. We mobilize volunteer pilots, photographers, environmental experts, and storytellers to make images, collect data, inform the public and share their experiences about some of our environment's most critical issues, landscapes and wildlife. Our flight campaigns foster dialogue and build consensus, promote informed decision-making, and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our conservation partners' work. What began in 1979 with one man and a borrowed plane has expanded to include more than 200 volunteer pilots who fly to protect land, water and wildlife across America. Though LightHawk’s scope and scale has grown, our vision remains the same. In sharing the aerial perspective with carefully selected passengers, LightHawk flights clearly illustrate conservation opportunities and provide our partners with invaluable information. We believe seeing our world from above causes
people to care about what they witness from the air and stirs them into action when they return to the ground.
