Aero-TV: Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion - Giving the King Air Royal Treatment

The King Air Gets A First Class Upgrade... via RC's Pro Line Fusion

Rockwell Collins has come up with an STC for the installation of its Pro Line Fusion cockpit panel system in King Air airplanes.

While at EAA AirVenture 2015, ANN News Editor, Tom Patton, visited with Mitch Bernstein, who is the After Marketing Manager for Rockwell Collins. Tom’s interview takes place in a King Air that has been converted to the new Pro Line Fusion display.

When Tom asked Bernstein about the advantages of the Pro Line Fusion, Bernstein replied that, “You fly heads-up…eyes-forward.” He added that Rockwell Collins designed the system to minimize the time the pilot is looking down. As Bernstein put it, “When you’re looking down the airplane is flying you, and it should be the other way around.”

Now comes the really fun part of this video. Bernstein and Tom sit in the cockpit and use the system while Bernstein explains its operation. The Pro Line Fusion is both a pushbutton and a touchscreen system. Tom asks about common complaints with a touchscreen system regarding operation in turbulence. Bernstein said they’ve got you covered, and he explains how they did it.

This system is designed for King Air conversions, but it’s a great video for anyone that wants to see where modern cockpit display technology is headed.
