Aero-Linx!
Scouring the information super airways can sometimes be a tough,
if educational, task for the Aero-News staff... but it also allows
us to check out some truly neat and exciting sites, so it's not
that bad a gig. On any given day, we may check dozens (and often
hundreds) of different sources for story ideas, and facts
confirmation. And, as is the nature of our business, much of this
is done on the Internet.
The ANN gang decided we probably shouldn't keep some of the neat
sites, info resources, and organizations we've discovered to
ourselves... so we decided to bring you Aero-Linx. These are the
sites that WE check out -- when we need added perspective, a new
spin on a day's topic... or just want to escape into
cyber-aero-space for awhile.
Look for some of our favorite sites, coming each day to ANN via
Aero-Linx.
Suggestions for future Aero-Linx segments are always
welcome, as well.
Aero-Linx: Tornado Alley
Turbo
Shameless plug time -- The "Other" Tornado Alley is actually a
company doing some truly magnificent work with retrofit
turbo-normalized engine installations that are easy to use,
powerful as you generally need them to be, and just plain rugged in
overall operating temperament. We have a TAT package in our SR-22
G3 Turbo and we're blown away by the performance, economy and ease
of use in this retrofit (which is incorporated as standard gear in
the SR-22 Turbo). If you are unfamiliar with the concept of
"Turbonormalizing," TAT notes that it is the conversion of your
aircraft engine from normally aspirated to turbocharged, providing
the same 29 or 30" of manifold pressure you now have available at
sea level...
Their Turbonormalizing system, incorporating the GAMIjectors'
balanced fuel/air ratios, can provide significantly more
speed/performance while maintaining measurably cooler cylinder head
temperatures and do this on less cruise fuel consumption than your
normally aspirated Cirrus, Bonanza, Cardinal or C-185. TAT claims
that 'this system simply changes everything you ever thought or
heard about turbocharging.' We agree...
