Two Caught On Security Camera After Possible Manhattan Skydive

Seen On Video Near The World Trade Center Early Monday Morning

A video camera caught two people in black jumpsuits and black helmets walking near the World Trade Center carrying parachutes in the very early morning hours Monday, leading authorities to believe they had skydived into Lower Manhattan.

The blog DNAInfo New York reports that it was unclear if the two had BASE jumped from a nearby building, or if they had exited an airplane over the city. But wherever they started, they apparently landed near the Goldman Sachs building. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said they were caught on security cameras near the intersection of West and Versey streets.

Kelly said "They were seen walking with parachutes from the location," adding that the skydivers had left behind no banners or notes.

According to the Wall Street Journal, both jumpers appeared to be men. Kelly said it is still not known if they left Lower Manhattan by car, on foot, or by public transportation.

Kelly said the NYPD is investigating, and the FAA is still determining whether it will join the effort.
