Military Plane Down In Russia, 12 Fatally Injured

Authorities have opened an investigation, but it is still in its very early stages. The four-engine turboprop cargo aircraft was designed in the 1960's, and the one which went down last week had been built in 1974. The few remaining An-22s which are still flying have been grounded by the Russian government until the cause of the crash is more clear.

The Associated Press reports that the Russian Air Force has also grounded its Tu-95 strategic bombers, which have the same engines as the An-22.
