FAA: No Wingsuit Flights Near St. Louis Cardinals Game

Cites Safety Concerns In Disallowing The Stunt

An experienced wingsuit flyer was denied permission by the FAA to make a jump over St. Louis last week as a publicity stunt for a mobile app promoting nightlife in the city.

Alexander Polli had planned to exit an airplane wearing a wingsuit at about 4,000 feet near Bush Stadium in St. Louis about an hour before the Cardinals and Atlanta Braves game Friday. Polli has gained YouTube fame for a video in which he flies through a small hole in a rock formation in Spain. It has over 10 million views, according to a report from television station KMOV in St. Louis.

But the FAA did not allow Polli to make his jump. He was notified by the agency that he could not perform the stunt due to safety concerns.

The mayor's office had previously said Polli could not jump directly over the stadium, which is covered by a TFR during games and other events.

The station reports that Polli planned a flight lasting about three minutes over the city, and that it would have included stunts such as flips and speeds as high as 140 miles per hour.
