Embraer Making First Appearance At Oshkosh

Will Spotlight Phenom Jets

This year's AirVenture celebration will have a new exhibitor -- Embraer, which will display mockups of its upcoming Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 business jets at the weeklong event.

Wittman Field is a decidedly different venue for the Brazilian airplane manufacturer, as in the past it's been more accustomed to carpeted convention centers for events such as NBAA... or shows with a more international flair, such as the current Farnborough Air Show in England.

So... why Oshkosh? Well, the smaller Phenom jets represent a new market for Embraer... different from its other offerings in the medium- and- large business jet, and regional airliner, markets... and it's likely the company wants the enthusiast community to view its offerings in the same light as Oshkosh perennials Eclipse, and Cessna.

"We are thrilled to introduce the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 jets to the Oshkosh AirVenture," said Luís Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice-President, Executive Jets. "We want visitors to experience first-hand the innovative design and premium comfort of these revolutionary jets."

In addition to its latest jets, Embraer is also sponsoring an Oshkosh static display replica of Alberto Santos-Dumont’s 14Bis biplane, the first heavier-than-air self-propelled aircraft to take off in public... the perfect way, Embraer says, to contrast the old, with the new.
