Will Provide Enhanced Vision Systems for Military and
Government Helicopters
FLIR Systems, Inc.
announced Tuesday it has entered into an agreement with Max-Viz to
act as the exclusive distributor of Max-Viz's Enhanced Vision
Systems (EVS) for use in selected rotary wing aircraft applications
worldwide.
"The EVS products designed by Max-Viz offer an effective
solution to improve visibility in difficult environments," said
Andrew Teich, FLIR's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
"We are pleased to be working with the Max-Viz team on this
important product."
"FLIR's selection of our EVS products is another validation of
our technology and a major step in the development of our company,"
said Roger Watson, Vice President and Chief Design Officer of
Max-Viz. "This partnership allows us to take advantage of FLIR's
strong worldwide distribution channels and superior reputation in
the military and government helicopter market."
Under the terms of the agreement with FLIR, Max-Viz maintains
executive transport, emergency medical services (EMS) and
commercial utility helicopters as its customers.
Max-Viz EVS provides
pilots with increased situational awareness and the ability to
react when unaided vision is impaired due to darkness or visual
obscurants. Utilization of the system directly addresses the three
major flight safety concerns today: controlled flight into terrain
(CFIT); approach and landing accidents; and runway incursions. In
addition, the system aids in taxi/takeoff operations, and improves
operational safety and efficiency.
FLIR Systems designs, manufactures and markets infrared imaging
systems worldwide for a variety of applications. FLIR's imaging
products are used in such diverse applications as public safety,
defense, navigation, electronic news gathering and search and
rescue. Thermography products support such applications as
condition monitoring, non-destructive testing, medical science,
research and development, and manufacturing process control.
