Levil Filling Pre-Orders For BOM Instrument Pod

Can Provide AHRS And Other Functions Independent Of Aircraft Power

Florida-based Levil Aviation has begun filling pre-orders for its Broadcasting Outer Module (BOM), which can provide AHRS and other flight information independent of an aircraft's electrical system. The unit literally resembles a bomb, and generates power from a wind turbine mounted on the back of the wing-mounted pod. It was approved by the FAA for use on certified aircraft under the agency's Non-Required Safety Enhancing Equipment (NORSEE) policy.

In a news release, the company said that it would begin filling preorders by the end of this month. It will be offered for general sale at Sun 'n Fun in April.

"we have worked very hard to make this as innovative and forward thinking as possible,” said Levil Aviation General Manager Ananda Leon, in the news release. “I can’t wait to see what this product does to the world of aviation.”

The BOM is triggered by the presence or absence of engine vibration. It supplies position, attitude an angle of attack and records data. Real-time access to the BOM is available during flight through mobile devices.

The BOM weighs just under a pound and retails online for $1,290 without an ADS-B receiver, or $1,595 with ADS-B In functionality.
