250th Centurion Engine In 2009 Goes To Diamond Joint Venture In China

One Of Five Ordered To Power DA 40's

Centurion has already manufactured a total of 250 engines this year, and the 250th engine is intended for series production of a Diamond DA 40 in China. The engine is part of a package of OEM kits ordered by Shandong Bin Ao Aircraft Industries, the Chinese joint venture partner of Diamond.

"In spite of the difficult economic climate, we are experiencing satisfyingly high sales of our engines," reported Centurion chairman of the board Jasper M. Wolffson. "Thus far we have manufactured and delivered more than thirty engines a month on the average in 2009. The fact that our engines are certified for numerous types of aircraft in a total of 61 countries worldwide and that we are able to supply a broad range of customers is now paying off. All of this provides us with further expansion possibilities."

The order from Shandong Bin Ao Aircraft Industries that is now pending delivery includes a total of five Centurion 2.0 kits for series production of new Diamond DA 40 aircraft. The company is part of a joint venture with Diamond and in China it manufactures the DA 40, which is highly valued for its economical operation and reliability. Last week a maintenance seminar was conducted by Centurion staff on location in China.

All newly manufactured Centurion 2.0 engines are delivered with a two-year warranty. The warranty applies directly between the final customer and Centurion - independent of whether the engine was purchased through Centurion distributors, at a Centurion service center or from an airplane manufacturer.

In addition, every purchaser of a new Centurion 2.0 engine receives a coupon for free replacement of the transmission and clutch after the first 300 hours of operation. This offer applies to both reequipped engines and to retrofits, as well as to engines supplied by Centurion in newly purchased airplanes. Thus the desired economical effect of extending operation to a total of 600 hours is already ensured. Clutches and transmissions capable of 600 hours of operation are expected to reach the market toward the end of the year.
