Boeing has selected
Goodrich Corporation to provide a Flight Deck Entry Video
Surveillance System for the new 787 Dreamliner. The system, offered
as option to 787 customers, will provide flight crews with a
complete view of the aircraft flight deck entry area in order to
enhance cockpit security and ultimately, overall aircraft safety.
The system includes video cameras which allow crews to see in total
darkness, a video server designed to interface with the aircraft's
Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system and EFB client server
applications software.
"This award reinforces our position as Boeing's video
surveillance system solutions supplier," said Jan Mathiesen, Vice
President, Goodrich Sensor Systems.
"Our electronic flight
bag and multi-function display video servers and camera imaging
technology offer true value to our customers in terms of both cost
and performance. This award follows others for similar video
surveillance solutions on the Boeing 737NG, 747-400 and 777
platforms," Mathiesen added.
This is the twelfth selection of Goodrich technology for the
Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Just recently Boeing awarded Goodrich
contracts for the flight deck lighting system and cabin attendant
seating. In addition, Boeing has selected Goodrich's cargo system,
wheels and electric braking system, exterior lighting, nacelles and
thrust reversers, proximity sensing system, fuel quantity
indicating system and fuel management software for the 787.
Goodrich has also been contracted by Rolls-Royce to provide the
engine control system and sensor suite for the Trent 1000 engine,
an engine option for the 787.
Goodrich is the leading supplier of stand-alone cockpit door
surveillance systems used to provide real-time video monitoring of
the cockpit door entry and forward galley areas. Over 2,700 systems
are installed and operating worldwide today on more than 60
different airlines.
The company holds Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for
aftermarket video solutions for all Boeing 7x7 series aircraft
types.
