SureCheck Aviation Introduces TrafficScope VR/VRX

New TPAS Units Are The Next Generation In Portable Collision Avoidance

By ANN Reporter Juan Jimenez

SureCheck Aviation has introduced their next generation TPAS" (Traffic Proximity Alert System) products, the TrafficScope models VRX and VR.

SureCheck's TPAS" utilizes the transponders on almost every aircraft flying today. It contains dual sensitive microwave receivers which decode transponder signals and display traffic proximity. The system does not decode altitude information. However, aircraft flying overhead or beneath you will not trigger alerts if they are out of potential conflict boundaries.

TrafficScope VRX is altitude- and range-based, whereas the VR unit provides the pilot with range and trend information. The unit is completely self-enclosed and has a footprint of 5.3 inches by 3.5 inches. The unit can be used purely as a portable unit with its own antenna and batteries, or it can be installed through an FAA Form 337 process using available installation and mounting kits. The VRX model also includes an altimeter sensitive to 200 ft for added reference accuracy.

Both units can also be set up for flight and ground mode operations, or an auto mode can be used which detects when the aircraft is in flight and switches itself automatically.

As shipped, the unit comes in a hard plastic carrying case with manuals, a training DVD, an interface cable, antenna and four AA batteries.
