Trump Trumped In Airport Lawsuit

Court Dismisses Attempt To Change Flight Paths In Palm Beach, FL

A Circuit Court Judge in Florida has tossed a lawsuit brought by real estate developer Donald Trump, which claimed noise from traffic departing Palm Beach International Airport made his historic property less valuable.

Trump held in his suit that the aircraft noise decreased the property values at his Mar-a-Lago Club, which is about 2.5 miles from the airport. The South Florida Sun Sentinel newspaper reports that he also tried to halt a proposed expansion at the airport, saying it constituted "intentional battery" on the part of the airport manager for a refusal to shift flight paths away from the historic resort.

Trump's attorney held that the airplanes overflying the club are a "nuisance," and that the noise from the airplanes make it so "you can't talk."

The judge, however, sided with the county, saying that the FAA controls flight paths. Trump has 20 days to file an amended suit, which his lawyer says he'll do.
