Donations Sought For Pilot Of Experimental Aircraft Injured During Taxi Test

Aircraft Inadvertently Became Airborne, Went Down On Interstate Highway In Maryland

Family and friends of a pilot who was badly injured in an accident earlier this month are seeking donations through GoFundMe to help offset her substantial medical bills.

Bobbi Boucher, 62, was conducting a high-speed taxi test in an experimental airplane at Stafford (MD) Regional Airport on June 6 when the aircraft unintentionally became airborne and went down on I-95, impacting an embankment next to the highway. She was transported to Mary Washington Hospital, where she is still being treated.

On the GoFundMe page, Andrew Ellison writes that Bobbi is a small business owner and the principal Aircraft Maintenance Technician with Inspection Authorization at the Plane Doctor. "Even after her surgery and hospital stay, Bobbi faces a long recovery and will most likely be out of work for several weeks," Ellison writes. "Please show your support and help Bobbi out in whatever way you can. It will mean a lot to her.

On Saturday, Ellison noted that Boucher has been moved from Intensive Care to a normal hospital room and is showing signs of improvement.

As of Monday, the campaign had raised nearly $8,700 of a stated $50,000 goal.
