CAFE Electric Aircraft Symposium Sets Attendance Record

Event Featured 25 Presentations Related To Electric Aircraft

The 8th annual Electric Aircraft Symposium (EAS VIII) presented April 25-26 in Santa Rosa, California, by the Comparative Aircraft Flight Efficiency Foundation (CAFE) set an attendance record, according to foundation president, Dr. Brien Seeley.

EAS VIII featured 25 presentations covering most every subject regarding electronic aircraft propulsion and related systems.

Several well-known EAA members were on the roster, including Barnaby Wainfan (creator of the Facetmobile), who spoke on STOL performance; Brian Carpenter of Rainbow Aviation and host of several EAA “Hints for Homebuilders” videos, who presented his twin-motor electric ultralight; and Mark Beierle of Earthstar Aircraft, who spoke about his eGull electric plane that uses the Joby motor.

EAA said in a news release that one of the most informational presentations was conducted by Dean Sigler, CAFE Foundation website blogger and author of Kitplanes magazine’s “Alternative Energies” column. Sigler spoke about hardware that’s currently available to homebuilders interested in electric flight, in contrast to most of the other presentations that focused on emerging technologies that aim to put electric flight on the map.
