Boeing Leases Hangar Complex At PDX

Will Use Facility For Painting, Maintenance

It's a little piece of Seattle, a little further south. Aero-News learned this week Boeing has signed a new 15-year lease on the AMC hangar complex at Portland International Airport (PDX). The planemaker signed the lease with the Port of Portland earlier this month.

PDX officials state the complex includes a 289,000-square-foot facility with two hangars, and an office and shop space. The facility and associated ramp space sit on nearly 27 acres in the airport's AirTrans Center.

Boeing plans to use the facility for large aircraft painting and aircraft maintenance operations, as well as general office use. Boeing’s expanded presence in the Portland area as a long-term tenant in the facility is expected to provide both direct and indirect economic benefit to the region.

The Port and the state of Oregon have hoped for many years for a tenant who would use the property for aircraft maintenance or manufacturing. Due to the size and unique nature of the facility, it was challenging to find a long-term tenant.

Fortunately for PDX, the facility is well-suited to Boeing's current, expanding needs.
