SF Firefighter Files Lawsuit In Connection With Asiana Accident

Driver Of Fire Equipment Says She's Been Made A 'Scapegoat' In The Tragedy

The woman who was driving a piece of firefighting equipment accused of accidentally running over a person ejected from an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 after it landed short and struck a seawall at KSFO has filed a lawsuit against the San Francisco Fire Department.

The driver, 49-year-old Elyse Duckett, says it was not her vehicle that allegedly first struck 16-year-old Ye Meng Yuan after the accident. Duckett says another vehicle struck the girl before the one she was driving. But only her name has been released as being responsible for the girl's death.

The Associated Press reports that Duckett says she is being "made a scapegoat" by the department, for which she has worked for 24 years. She is seeking unspecified damages from her employer.

The San Francisco Fire Department has declined to comment.
