Multiple Sources: Congressman 'Strong-Armed' By Shuster, ID'ed

Congressman Sean Duffy Reportedly Object of Political Arm-Twisting

On a day where much of the ANN staff (and so many other of our friends and associates) are still warily eying the waters around them, awaiting the signal to bug out due to the ever-present possibility of flash flooding, one wonders how such tragedies could conceivably become a political football for politicians to toss around in order to get their way.

And yet, reportedly, they are... and have been.

As ANN and others reported several weeks ago, EAA President, Jack Pelton, intimated that a US Congressman had been confronted by ATC Privatization advocate Congressman Bill Shuster with a threat to withhold support for flood relief insurance issues if said Congressman did not support HR 2997, the so-called ATC Privatization bill.

While Pelton has reported this shameful state of affairs (and others like it) to a number of parties, including ANN, before and during AirVenture 2017, Pelton did not state the ID of the affected politician.

ANN has now received corroborating information from multiple credible sources, that Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy (pictured) was the elected official singled out for political arm-twisting. ANN has reached out to Duffy's staff for additional info but has yet to receive an official response. We will furnish additional details when and if they become available.

ANN E-I-C Note: One has to wonder about the validity of a piece of law-making when it requires the kind of extortionate tactics that have reportedly been used by Shuster and associates. Good legislation should not need such unsavory and unethical actions to see it through, if in fact, the legislation proposed has merit and is in the best interests of all. When you add this to the incredible number of false and questionable statements made by Shuster and his acolytes, one really has to consider the whole effort highly suspect. Flyer beware.
