Ornge AW139 Fleet Fitted with SkyNode Tracking System

Data Telemetry Device For New Helicopters

The Canadian transportation firm Ornge is having its fleet of new AW139 helicopters equipped with Latitude Technologies SkyNode S200-021 satellite based Satcom/tracking/messaging system. The new fleet is currently being completed at Agusta Westland’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania manufacturing facility with dual SkyNodes and multiple crew station dialling/ messaging PTA12 keypads, the company said Thursday.

“As Ornge enters a new era in transport medicine with the introduction of our new fleet, the safety of our patients and crews is of utmost importance” said Rick Potter, Chief Operating Officer of Ornge Air “The Skynode system enhances our situational awareness and resource management capabilities, providing Ornge with the accurate and up to date information we need to fulfill our mandate of high quality patient care.”

The SkyNode S200 system is the smallest and lightest field proven Satcom, tracking and data telemetry device in the industry. It provides security and crew safety for air/ground logistics applications anywhere in the world with interfaces available to multiple mapping and information management systems. The S200 provides automatic flight following, reliable 2-way data networking/messaging, remote configuration control, data logging, event triggering from external switches/buttons and is equipped with an internal fast-fix 20 channel WAAS GPS receiver. Other features include auxiliary GPS serial data outputs for Moving Map, Electronic Flight Bag and 406 ELT’s, OOOI flight schedule reporting.
