FAA Dismisses Claims Against San Diego County Regional Airport Authority

Complaints By FBO Claimed Federal Law Violations

JimsAir Aviation Services in San Diego, CA had seven of its eight claims against the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority rejected by the FAA this week.

As Aero-News reported, the Lindbergh Field FBO filed the complaints about a year ago alleging the authority was in violation of federal law by refusing to extend its lease and demanded millions of federal dollars be denied the agency.

The FAA rejected claims the authority inappropriately converted aviation space, failed to follow master plan rules, or compromised airport safety. They also didn't accept the authority didn't allow JimsAir the opportunity to shape a new master plan in addition to imposing unreasonable requirements, according to the Associated Press.

However, the administration did uphold a claim the authority should impose new requirements for certain airport operators and for JimsAir when it provides services outside its leasehold, the authority said.

The company is operated by the Escondido-based Bracamonte family and has provided FBO services at Lindbergh Field for more than 50 years.
