The Vintage Air Rally Crete-2-Cape is a biplane rally that started from Sitia, Crete on the 12th of November and was expected to end up in Cape Town after 5 weeks -- but the original plan has gone a bit astray.

For reasons that are yet to be fully explained, the Ethiopians halted the specialized air rally, claiming that the participants had crossed into the country illegally. After some negotiations, the Ethiopians relented and the rally has continued. The event is described by the organizers as a flying rally across Africa, from Crete to Cape Town for aircraft built before the 31st December 1939. It was formatted to follow in the footsteps of the pioneering flights that took place in the 1920s. Another milestone has been reached in the A350 program as the first A350-1000 took off last week for its maiden flight at Blagnac in Toulouse, France. Benefitting from the experience of the original A350-900 test program, this new aircraft is expected to entry into airline service in the second half of 2017. The Academy of Model Aeronautics staff participating in ‘Hash-tag Giving-Tuesday,’ tomorrow, November 29, to help them hit their 2016 fundraising goal of $200,000. #GivingTuesday is described as a global day of giving that is fueled by the power of social media. Celebrated on the Tuesday following the U.S. Thanksgiving Day, it kicks off the charitable season when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
