Sustainable 'Round-the-World Adventure Team Receives Assistance From Active Winglet Experts
Tamarack Aerospace Group enjoyed the company of the Diamondo Earthrounding flight team when they stopped by at their Aiken, South Carolina facility.
Tamarack accepted the Diamondo Diamond DA50 RG amidst preparations for the Masters Golf Tournament, an event that will see Aiken briefly become home to about 200+ Cessna CitationJets alone, with about 250 more miscellaneous aircraft of all sorts and descriptions passing through the FBO in anticipation of the gold tourney only a short drive away.
The Earthrounding flight team, Matthias Niederhauser and Robin Wegner, took off from Zurich, Switzerland in January, with hopes to return by or on April 22nd for World Earth Day. Their 111-day trip is meant to shine a light on sustainable systems, businesses, and ecological efforts along their route, bouncing through everything from sustainable aviation fuel synthesis powered by solar collectors, to peatland restoration projects along the way. Tamarack's active winglet tech was highlighted by the team as an excellent system to enhance fuel economy, limit wasted gas, and reduce emissions with a simple, effective modification. The Aiken airport is home to the East Coast Transformation Center, where Tamarack works their magic to improve performance and boost efficiency with the addition of their Smartwing for Cessna Citations. Tamarack says that the tech can reduce fuel usage by up to 33%, shorten the time to top-of-climb, and reduce noise pollution when stacked up against stock, flat-winged jets of the
same make and model.
Earthrounding’s Matthias Niederhauser said their flight so far has been an absolute blast so far. “This Earthrounding trip has been a dream of ours and it’s amazing that we are accomplishing the dream this year. We have been visiting incredible environmentally conscious aviation operations like Tamarack’s Transformation Center in South Carolina that are setting a huge example for responsible aviation around the world,” said Niederhauser.
“Supporting the Diamondo Earthrounding project is so exciting“, said Jacob Klinginsmith, Tamarack president. “We are totally committed to making aviation as sustainable as possible and absolutely support Matt and Robin on their historic journey around the world, making everyone more aware of the critical need for cleaner skies. Tamarack’s technology is here and available right now and we hope all aviators do what they can as soon as they can for sustainable aviation.”
