2003 Flytec Hang Gliding Championship Underway

Touted As Premier Competition in US

By ANN Correspondent John Ballantyne

The Flytec Hang Gliding Championship started Saturday and runs through Friday, April 18th. The event is hosted by Quest Air Soaring Center, in Groveland (FL). "The Flytec Championship stands to, once again, be the premier US contest this year," says Russell Brown, Quest Air partner. "The meet will have full USHGA and CIVL sanctioning, prize and award classes for top, up-and-coming, and first time competitors. The Quest Air Team will provide the most efficient launching in aerotow competition."

Everybody Who's Anybody...

The contest is sanctioned as a Class A competition by the United States Hang Gliding Association, and by the CIVL international hang gliding commission as a Category 2 event. Many of the top hang glider pilots in the US will be at Quest for this exciting annual event.

Many international pilots will be at the Flytec Championship.  The hang gliding teams from France and Brazil are there, plus pilots from Australia, Japan, England, Germany, Czechoslovakia.  Pilots gain points toward qualification on the World team for their country.  The top ten competitors from each country qualify to compete internationally.
