Woman Who Suffered From Septic Shock Skydives For First Time

Jump Follows Amputation Of Both Hands And Feet, Done To Raise Awareness Of The Condition

A woman in Oklahoma who lost both hands and feet to septic shock last year has done something out of the ordinary to raise awareness of the condition.

She jumped out of a airplane.

The online site themighty.com reports that Sue Stull went into septic shock last fall. Her condition became so critical that her doctors told her family they should say their goodbyes. Both hands and both feet had to be amputated, and she was in the hospital for 50 days.

But she survived, and last weekend, Stull, 42, went skydiving for the first time.

For her tandem jump with an instructor, Stull wore a yellow "Team Sue" t-shirt. Waiting on the ground were her husband Jay, her 16-year-old son Devin, her prosthetist, and several others.

Stull told The Oklahoman newspaper that facing septic shock is "scary," and she's determined to help others who have been affected by the illness. She and her family will host the Sue Stull Sepsis 5K Run Run/Walk in Midwest City, OK later this month.

No word whether she'll be skydiving in to open the event.
